NUNTA MUTA (SILENT WEDDING)

A small town. In 1953, a happy young couple about to
be wed. A tight community ready to celebrate this happy event. All is well.
Until a number of militant communists enter the town to declare a period of
national mourning after the death of Stalin. After that the wedding party is
forbidden and the community searches for a way to have it go on anyway. The
solution is as dared as inventive as fun: the feast will go on but everything,
including the music, will be in mime.
It was difficult to watch, as we had it only in Romanian. But the images were very clear. Funny scenes with the silent toasts or the dances without music and the applauses without sound. And a dramatic ending of the wedding.
ReplyDeleteCurious to see how they prepare food for weddings, sausages, bread, meats...
It is a very good movie to get to know Romanian customs.

ReplyDeleteIt's an incredible, different film. All the people in the film are very positive and cheerful. They always see the positive side of everything about life. When they heard Stalin's deaath they felt very depressed. Then they found very different methods to continue the wedding. From this moment the film began to be very comic and entertaining. We had relly good time while we are watching it. All my students and I laughed a lot.I would like to thank to our Romanian partners for giving us the chance to watch this movie.
